Immerse yourself in the Northern New Mexico’s luminous light and inspiring landscape under Michele Hausman’s tutorial guidance while learning plein air painting techniques that capture stunning locales in the medium of oil painting. Oils are excellent for painting the overlapping tones, textures and light patterns of this compelling geological terrain. This terrain has riveted the imagination of past artists who were drawn to this area, such as Georgia O’Keeffe and the Taos Painters. Working on location at Casa Nambé and on plein air excursions, participants will learn color mixing, paint consistency and brushwork, atmospheric value scales, as well as landscape composition and perspective.
The workshop format combines focused morning workshops and afternoon site visits. Workshop participants will enhance their painting skills while experiencing the unique culture and natural beauty of Northern New Mexico. This workshop will be an intimate experience for 7 people whose interest and passion for Art is a wonderful commonality. Afternoon excursions will take us to the famous shrine of Chimayó, the “High Road” to Taos and Taos Pueblo, the Chama River landscape, the Santa Fe Fine Arts Museum, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and Santa Fe galleries. Workshop limited to 7 participants.

Second Saturdays
in the Studio!
|
"New students may join students who have taken any of my previous classes or workshops to come to my studio and paint on the second Saturday each month from November through May. I will have one or two Still Life set ups from which to work. You may choose to work on finishing a plein air piece, continue something you are working on at home, or begin a new painting. This is a chance to get professional feedback on your work while you are painting. Class size is limited to 6 students each month. Portable Easel and pre-registration are required. Hope to see you."
Michele Hausman
